Italian Course

 

The Italian language is a part of the Romance group of the Italic sub family which belong to European family of languages. It is spoken mainly in the Italian peninsula, southern Switzerland, San Marino, Sicily, Corsica, northern Sardinia and on the north-eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea besides North and South America. The Italian language is the only language with numerous dialects. Being the direct offspring of the Latin spoken by the Romans. Of all the major Romance languages, Italian is closest in resemblance to Latin.

World Language Lab teaches the language, culture, art and literature and Italian language. Students acquire excellent training which is evident by their success in the international examination. The knowledge of Italian language and culture greatly enhances their overseas experience. We conduct a Certificate Course, Diploma Course, Crash Course and Travellers Course.
 

Level 1- Basic

Course Eligibility: for Beginners

Course Structure: At the outset of level one basic fundamental vocabulary grammar, structure of Italian, the sound system, understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Italian is taught. Audio & Video aids pronunciation, answering questions on comprehension of simple text, simple description of day-to-day life situations, stimulated dialogues and role playing are included. The culture of the Italian -speaking people is also studied.

On course completion the student will be able to
Comprehend spoken language from vocabulary text.
Read and understand the language from material of this level.
Recognize correct sound patterns.
Write exercises using grammatical items studied.
Know cultural elements of the Italian societies.
Be able to carry on a conversation using vocabulary studied.

Duration: Two months.
 

Level II - Intermediate

Course eligibility: For those familiar with the basic level of Italian language.

Course structure:
The second level Italian course has the same learning experiences materials as the first. Expanding individual interests in reading materials, cultural items, short stories, plays, essays, reading and a wide vocabulary are built up. Italian is used extensively in class during discussions and role playing. (Art, music, TV and movies are just a few of the topics studied during cultural immersion exercises).

On course completion one will be confident to:
Use and understand Italian in the text.
Write with a wide vocabulary.
Read with improved ability.
Demonstrate a developing empathy for the Italian culture.
Form questions and answers based on familiar material.
Carry on an extended conversation using vocabulary studied.

Duration: Two months
 

Level III - Advanced

Course eligibility: For those who want to specialize in the language.

Course structure:
This covers written comprehension and expression in oral communication and expression. Students can embark on higher studies. The advanced level of Italian practices basic listening, speaking, reading and writing. There are opportunities to individual interests in reading materials and cultural items. Short stories, plays, essays, poetry and biographies with wide vocabulary are given. Italian is used extensively in class during discussions and role playing.

On course completion the student will be guaranteed to:
Use and understand the language and vocabulary used in the text.
Speak, read and write with improved ability and wide vocabulary.
Understand and be understood by a native speakers.
Translate from English to Italian while demonstrating grammatical skills.
Acquire a deeper understanding of the Italian culture..
Formulate questions and answers based on material read or discussed
Engage in special Projects: Current events report, library research, and several other projects.

Duration: Two months.
On completion of each level and attending the tests, the students will get a certificate from World Language Lab.
